Pass Plus
Pass Plus is an initiative by the DVLA aimed to give new drivers the experience of driving in different driving conditions.
This course is available to drivers up to 12 months after passing their test.  This is a course therefore there is no test at the end. 
The course consists of 6 modules of driving and covers the following conditions.  This is usually taken in 3 x 2 hour sessions and costs £150 for the course.  

  • Driving in a town
  • Driving in all weathers
  • Driving on rural roads
  • Driving at night
  • Driving on dual carriageways
  • Driving on motorways

The benefit of taking the Pass Plus course is that you become a more confident driver with new skills and knowledge.
Insurers favour those who have taken the Pass Plus course and some offer sizable discounts.  It is best to check with your insurer about the discount you will receive, however check the Directgov website for an up to date list of insurers.
